Hello everybody!
I found the challenge at More Than Words blog really inspiring this month.
Combining a word “harmony” with song lyrics brought one particular song to my mind almost instantly: “Non, rien de rien” by one of my favourite artists, Edith Piaf.
For those not knowing the song, but familiar with movies, a little hint: it was used as a main motif throughout the “Inception” movie.
A word “harmony” has so many possible meanings that you can find it in almost everything at anytime. Will it be a sound of birds chirping in the morning, a smile on faces of your loved ones or your point of view on aesthetics. There is a harmony in all of these things.
But harmony is also to be found in being honest and true with ourselves and in living our lives with no regrets. This kind of harmony, the one that leads to accepting ourselves for who we are, was my inspiration while creating this project.
Edith sings:
No, absolutely nothing.
No, I regret nothing.
Not the good things that have happened,
Nor the bad. It’s all the same to me.
Somehow these words sound more powerful in French, and they appear in original language version on my canvas.
I used a picture of Edith Piaf taken by Maurice Seymour in 1950s which, I think, defines her perfectly. When it comes to papers I used 7Dots Studio’s “Palmistry” from “Fortune Teller” collection and 13@rts “Notes and Thoughts” from “Aria Story” collection. Chipboard used in this project comes from various manufacturers: SnipArt, Crafty Molly and Scrapiniec. Paper roses come from Wild Orchid Crafts.
I also used stamps from Gabi’s Hibiscus set, Lindy’s golden mist, black gesso and acrylic paint, texture paste, beads, microbeads, some cheesecloth, sisal and metal clock from ScrapBerrys.
I’m entering the MTW challenge:
Thank you for stopping by!
